The Ekeko is a figure of Andean origin that represents abundance,  prosperity and good fortune. This small god or amulet, usually represented as a small, chubby man, loaded with different material goods, is a popular figure in Peru, Bolivia, Northern Argentina and Chile.

The figure of Ekeko has roots in pre-Columbian cultures, specifically in the Andean highlands region. It is believed that his cult dates back to the Tiwanaku culture (approximately 200 BC too 12000 AD), one of the oldest civilizations in South America. In its beginnings the "Ekeko" was a deity of fertility, abundance and good harvest.

The Ekeko is usually represented as a chubby, smiling man, who carries a large number of objects attached to his clothes. These objects, which include food, money, material goods and basic products, represent people's wishes for prosperity and material. well-being. That is, the things that a person desires in life. In many modern representations, the Ekeko also carries a cigar in his mouth, as it is believed that lighting a cigar and letting it burn will attract good fortune.

Tradition and belief dictate that the Ekeko must be received as a gift in order for it to grant true abundance. It is also "fed" with offerings, and thanked for favors received. The Ekeko is a good luck charm for current times. Popular belief is that the Ekeko, as a symbol of abundance, will grant your wishes throughout the year.

The Ekeko is an amulet and cultural symbol deeply rooted in the beliefs of the Andean people, a representation of hope and a reminder of spiritual connections with abundance and prosperity.
