Andean spinners use low whorl spindles also known as "pushka" or "phusca". The Andean men or Cholito is carrying a small sack of potatoes on his back also known as the Peruvian Purple Potato. This type of potato was especially treasured in the era of the Inca when it was eaten by royalty.
